Brenna + Drew - Got Married! :)
I had the honor of being the wedding photographer for Brenna + Drew’s wedding this weekend in beautiful Manitou Springs, CO. They had a small ceremony at a church and then went to a local Colorado Springs brewery for the reception. The whole day was an absolute blast! This couple is so full of love for one another and you can see it shine through in the photos.
Enjoy! :)

Sweet Sixteen Photobooth! :)
I was SO excited to be able to venture into the world of photobooth photography! :)
I was actually in a musical with the boy, Tyler that was having his birthday and the girl, Kayla is his best friend. Their parents got together and threw them this huge surprise! Tyler and I got to do a song from High School Musical for karaoke (HAHA) and it was just so so much fun.
Enjoy the photos!

Stephanie - Headshots :)
I got the opportunity to take headshots for my good friend Stephanie. We’ve actually know each other for six years now and I was so excited when she asked me to do this shoot with her! Stephanie went to NYC for a week and got to audition for Disney Cruise Lines. Sounds like a blast doesn’t it? :)
Enjoy the photos!

ABSOLUTELY agree with what Ayatsato said about this post. It’s time management, difficult and a lot, lot, lot of work! It’s also a very joyous and amazing job. :) I love weddings for the ability to capture such a wide range of emotions. Just amazing.
I just saw this Craigslist link on my Facebook feed. Although I do not charge $3000 dollars for wedding photography I wanted to address the point of view from a wedding photographer:
Wedding photographers do not “just hang out and take a bunch of pictures and edit them”. I take the time to plan. I meet with the couple months before, we talk, I see what their needs are. We draw up a timeline for the wedding day. There is a contract. This is a business!
The actually wedding day is very stressful. If I don’t account for my time, I’ll miss opportunities for key photographic moments. As the couple entrusts me to capture their wedding day, I need to make sure I know the timeline, ensure my equipment is working, have back-ups, have energy, smile and be focused all day. I have to be administrative when it comes to taking family photos, bridal party photos, and photos of the couple. Administrative in a genuine, kind way. And that’s hard. It’s hard to not come off as a cold, bossy photographer. Because caring takes effort.
I shoot well over 1000 photos at most weddings. Most weddings I shoot are 8-12 hour days. I look through all of them. Multiple times. I narrow down the few hundred I want to spend my time editing. The editing process is tedious and also probably my favorite part. It takes me weeks to get through it all. I choose shots for specific reasons. This is why people hire me! Couples like how I see things. I carefully craft the story of the wedding day.
Just because your cousin’s boyfriend has a DSLR does not mean you are going to have quality wedding photos. It is not the camera. It is the craft and the vision.
It is such a shame that people will diminish and belittle any profession. Wedding photographers work hard. We work hard to care for others. We work hard to run our business. Many of us don’t have 401K’s, medical insurance, or consistant paychecks. We have to pay out taxes, rent, food, bills, just like everyone else. Please remember that before you become outraged in how expensive wedding photography is.
I love shooting weddings. I love people. I love, love.

New Cameraaaaa! :)
I was SO excited to get this from the store the other day! I got to the store, picked it out and just as I swiped my card through…. It declined.
I was confused and so disappointed! Then, I called the customer service line and found out the card had been reported lost as we hadn’t received it in the mail for almost a month. Even more confused and now just a tad bit frustrated, the customer service agent went on to ask me if we had received the replacement card that we had ordered, etc. The conversation ended in me asking for another new card to be sent and me calling my husband in my frustration. Luckily we got him a card for the business as well. :) So I got my happy ending after all! Here it is, my beautiful new camera! So excited and I can’t wait to start using it! :)

Tori - Senior 2010
This shoot was quite the adventure! I met up with Tori at her home and after picking outfits we headed out for a drive to our destination. We were about ten minutes away from the shoot location and I, never once had the happened to me, got pulled over! My first time being pulled over and I had a client with me! I was just mortified. Luckily, it was only for expired plates. Ten minutes and a $50 ticket later we were back on the road. Then, I got lost. So, Ten minutes after that we arrived at our destination! The atmosphere was a little cloudy and a lot a bit windy, but I really think it worked for the shoot! I love how the photos came out and Tori was such a sweet girl to photograph. I loved her personality and her style. All in all, it was a great day! :)
Enjoy the photos!

Sierra - Senior 2010
I drove up to a house on a large piece of land and was just in awe! What a beautiful place to take photos! Sierra was kind enough to give me a tour of the area and then I got to meet her grandmother. She was so very kind to me! I was even offered some fresh made deviled eggs. (Yum!) The photos we took that I love the most were taken in her patio garden area with her guitar. Sierra started strumming a little and just relaxed so much in front of the camera. It was wonderful.
Enjoy the photos!
